Cream ivory paper is essentially an uncoated woodfree offset paper, made from bleached wood pulp. Most products are OBA-free, presenting a natural and warm hue.
The common specification parameters are as follows:
Grammage range: Conventional products are primarily distributed within the range of 60gsm to 120gsm. High-grammage products can extend to paperboard specifications of 180gsm, 250gsm, and even beyond 400gsm. Specifications such as 80gsm, 100gsm, 120gsm, 150gsm, and 250gsm are the most common in the market.
Size: Common sizes include A4 (210×297mm), A5, 8.5”×11” (Letter size), as well as printing specifications such as 24”×34” and 700×1000mm. Customization is supported.
Coating status: Most products are uncoated both sides, retaining the fibrous texture of the paper body. Some paperboard products may have a gloss coating applied on one or both sides to enhance surface smoothness and printing quality.
Environmental Protection and Safety: Most cream ivory paper is FSC certified and employs an acid-free process to ensure long-term preservation without yellowing or deterioration. Some products are made from virgin pulp with extremely low lignin content, making them biodegradable and environmentally friendly.
Raw material composition: The main fiber sources are softwood pulp and hardwood pulp, with some products incorporating a certain proportion of recycled waste paper pulp. The typical formula is 20–30% softwood pulp, 40–60% hardwood pulp, and 20–30% chemi-mechanical pulp. There are also products that adopt a ratio of 50% softwood pulp + 40% hardwood pulp + 10% European waste paper pulp.

Technical Indicators
Brightness / Whiteness: Ivory/Elegant White: approximately 88%–90%; Beige: approximately 84%–88%. The brightness is lower than that of pure white paper (over 93% for high brightness and 90%–93% for natural white), and the paper quality is soft and eye-friendly. Some export-grade products can achieve a brightness of 100–104% (ISO 2470 standard). The CIE reference value for brightness is 150–160.
Thickness: 100gsm corresponds to approximately 0.12mm (with a 5% deviation), and there is a rough positive correlation between grammage and thickness. Paper with a grammage of 80–120gsm has a thickness of approximately 0.10–0.14mm; high-grammage paperboard can have a thickness ranging from 0.25 to 1.5mm.
Stiffness: 1.37–16.8 mN·m in the CD direction, 2.31–32.6 mN·m in the MD direction (depending on grammage). Low-grammage paper retains its softness, while high-grammage paperboard exhibits significantly improved stiffness, providing a solid feel.
Opacity: 90%–95% (common values); products with 80gsm can achieve over 94%. High opacity reduces the risk of show-through during double-sided printing, ensuring clear and undisturbed text and graphics.
Smoothness: Coated paperboard can achieve a smoothness of 650s (ISO 8253); uncoated paper has a smoothness of 9-15s; it is an important indicator of hand feel and printing fineness.
Moisture Content: 8%-12%, controlled within a reasonable range to ensure paper stability and avoid deformation.
Grammage tolerance: ±3%–5% (depending on the paper type).
Ink Absorption: 20–30ml/2min (uncoated paper), with uniform ink penetration, resulting in clear and full printed images with strong detail expression.
Tensile Index: approximately 24 Nm/g in the MD direction and approximately 24 Nm/g in the CD direction, ensuring stable operation of the paper during printing and processing.
Product Features
1. Eye-friendly and comfortable, allowing for long-term reading without strain
The greatest product feature of Cream Ivory Paper lies in its warm hue. The warm cream-colored paper forms a soft contrast with black text, effectively reducing light reflection and glare, significantly reducing eye fatigue, and greatly enhancing the reading experience for long-form content.
2. It feels warm and smooth, with a thick texture
Although many Cream ivory papers have a moderate grammage, their high bulk design gives them a thick, soft, and elastic feel, providing a "weightiness" that surpasses their actual grammage, making the finished books or brochures appear more luxurious both visually and tactually.
3. Excellent printing and writing performance
As a high-quality offset paper, Cream Ivory Paper boasts a fine and smooth surface, high surface strength, uniform ink absorption, clear printing, sharp text edges, and rich image layers. Additionally, its double-sided uncoated nature makes it not only suitable for offset printing but also widely applicable to inkjet and laser printing. Furthermore, the paper surface is naturally compatible, ensuring smooth and effortless writing with pencils, gel pens, and fountain pens, with little to no ink bleeding.
4. Green and environmentally friendly, in line with the trend of sustainable development
Most products utilize FSC® certified wood pulp, ensuring that the wood sources are legal and sustainable. Additionally, the paper contains no acidic substances, allowing for long-term preservation without yellowing or becoming brittle, and the degradation process is environmentally friendly.
